Design-Build. A project delivery system used in the construction industry. A method in which the architectural drawings and all construction services needed for the build are contracted by one business. Where architects, estimators, builders and designers work together, under one roof, to create the best possible solution for any custom home contract.
So, what does this mean to you, the homebuyer? This process means that you will only be contracting and interacting with one company. In the design-bid-build or general contacting method, buyers use an architect, and a separate builder. The homebuyer has to coordinate with both entities and manage the two of them successfully with hopes that each program integrates well with the other.
With a design/build company, architects work on the same team with estimators, carpenters and designers. Lead team-members work together from the inception of each home project to the final stages to achieve the most cost effective viable solution. This process minimizes the risk for the project owner, and reduces delivery time by overlapping all design and build phases from the beginning.
